Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of TutorYard (the “Service”), a business management tool for independent tutors. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
TutorYard helps tutors manage their schedule, lesson notes, invoices and parent communication, including AI-assisted progress reports. The Service is provided on a subscription basis and is intended for professional use by adults (18+).
2. Accounts
You sign in with an email-based magic link; you are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for the accuracy of the information you enter.
3. Subscription and billing
- The Service is subscription-only. You can explore a read-only demo for free before subscribing; creating your own data requires an active subscription.
- Paid subscriptions are processed by our merchant of record, Polar, which handles payment, applicable taxes and refunds. By subscribing you also agree to Polar’s terms.
- You can cancel at any time; access to paid features continues until the end of the billing period. After your subscription ends, your data remains available read-only and parent-facing pages keep working.
4. Payments between you and your clients
TutorYard does not process payments between tutors and their students or parents. Invoices created in the Service are records only; payment happens entirely outside the platform, and we are not a party to those transactions. You are solely responsible for your pricing, invoicing accuracy, taxes and compliance with local law.
5. AI-generated content
The Service can draft progress reports and summaries from your lesson notes using AI. Drafts are never sent automatically: you review, edit and approve every report before it reaches a parent. You are responsible for the final content you send.
6. Your data about students and parents
You confirm that you are entitled to enter and process the personal information of your students and their parents in the Service (for example, that you have informed them or obtained consent where required). We process this data on your behalf as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Parent portal links
Parent portal pages are accessible through signed, unguessable links without an account. Treat these links like passwords: share them only with the intended recipient. You can revoke and regenerate a link at any time from the student’s page.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service — including attempting to breach security, sending spam or unlawful content through it, infringing others’ rights, or reselling the Service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss arising from payments between you and your clients.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
